 I found love the minute I set my eyes on you

I nurtured it with care and hope

I watered it with tears and faith

I pruned it with all humility and respect

I endured insults and humiliations from you and your insolent friends

I said ‘sorry’ severally till it lost its meaning, even when you were at fault

I stayed awake most nights wondering if it is a crime to love you

I cried myself to sleep most of the night till I lost count

I painted the picture of your face on the tablet of my heart

I tattooed your name on my chest

I worked three jobs so that I can afford your demands and that of your materialistic friends.
